Sleepy Hollow is excited and proud to share next chapter of our growth!

Dear Friend of Sleepy Hollow Theatre & Arts Park,

“I believe arts education in music, theater, dance, and the visual arts is one of the most creative ways we have to find the gold that is buried just beneath the surface. They (children) have an enthusiasm for life, a spark of creativity, and vivid imaginations that need training – training that prepares them to become confident young men and women.”

Richard W. Riley, Former US Secretary of Education

OUR COMMUNITY, OUR HISTORY

Sleepy Hollow Theatre & Arts Park began providing artistic opportunities to youth and audiences in the Bismarck-Mandan community in 1990. We have since produced 27 Broadway musicals over our 22 years and involved 185,000 students, teachers, orchestra members, volunteers and audience members.

OUR PASSION FOR ENCOURAGING YOUTH

Sleepy Hollow Theatre & Arts Park is a quality multi-faceted program offering dynamic arts education. Through hands-on activities, mentoring, performances, and behind-the-scenes education, students discover the world of theatre and the arts. By being involved on stage, learning from fantastic hands-on mentoring in theatrical lighting, costume and make-up design and much more, students on and off stage are challenged and encouraged to identify their own voice and discover themselves as a unique artist.

OUR COMMITMENT TO EDUCATION

Our Commitment and Dedication to fanning the “spark of creativity” has grown over the years. Witnessing maturation in confidence and skills has been our inspiration. In 2007 SHTAP began producing a second musical theatre production to provide more opportunity to educate students, highlight talent and enrich our communities and state. In 2011, our students’ exceptional talents and hard work were showcased in Jesus Christ Superstar and Beehive, the 60’s Musical.  To provide focused singing, acting and dance education to talented younger performers, 2011 also saw the addition of a new performance troupe called the “Rising Stars”.  We are also working with architects to house classrooms, performance facilities and public space at our arts park for further community and state enrichment.  Our plan is to continue to grow and expand artistic opportunities.

We know it was a tough year for this community with economic challenges and flooding affecting all of us.  Like the inspiring people of this community, though faced with hard times our vision and determination has not dimmed. The miraculous thing about difficult circumstances is being part of a community coming together to overcome hardships.

With your help, the upcoming 2012 season promises to again celebrate “enthusiasm for life, spark of creativity, and vivid imagination”.

Through a financial gift of any size, YOU can make a difference in the lives of young people in this community and region.
